Banana Curry House @ Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

Located in Block D of Plaza Mont Kiara is a South Indian Restaurant called Restaurant Banana Curry House. Fondly known as Banana among the locals here, this restaurant needs no further introduction among the people working in this locality. Having been here for a number of years now, they are well known for their good food, reasonable prices and excellent lunch time variety. I have blogged about this place before and that was specifically about their lunch time offerings but today, my entry is specifically about their dinner options available.

Some Prefer Sitting Outside
This is a very rare scene at this restaurant. If you come here during the day, it is almost impossible to get a table to yourself. Since this is mainly an office crowd, their nights tends to get quite quiet and it is a good rest time for the staffs. Their outside sitting area is covered as it is along the walkway and they have installed ceiling fans to keep the place cool. The indoor area is air conditioned.

Their Menu

Their Menu

Their Menu
Their menu items are mostly available all day long. Besides these, they also have a good variety of rice and curry but this is mainly for the lunch crowd and would be mostly sold out by late evening. For dinner, it is best to order their tiffin items as they are freshly prepared.

Bru Coffee @ RM 3.00
Their Bru Coffee is made using Cow's Milk and was very good. You get good coffee's like this only in places where the staffs are from India. I would rate this drink at 9.3/10 .

Chapati @ RM 2.00
Their Chapati comes at RM 2.00 each and is accompanied with Potato Curry. I would say that their Chapati was rather huge as you can see but it was quite dry. Although it tasted good, it could have been better. I would rate this at 7.5/10 .

Potato
Their Potato Curry was good and it came with diced carrots and green peas. I would have preferred this to be on the spicy side but here they serve it non spicy. This is a complimentary item when you order Chapati or Poori. I would rate their Potato Curry at 7.7/10 .

Mutton Curry
I had requested for some plain Mutton Curry for the Chapati. This was not as thick as it should be as that is how Mutton Curry should be. I also found it to be only lightly spiced and that seemed like a set back to me. I would only rate this curry at 6/10 .

Mutton Perattal @ RM 5.00
Their Mutton Perattal however was really nice. It was wonderfully marinated and came in small tender chunks. They were rightly spiced and was slightly on the spicy side. Loved it! I would rate this dish at 9.5/10 .

Poori @ RM 2.00
Their Poori was definitely much better than their Chapati. In fact, I found this to be quite good. They were freshly made to order and once again was served with the Potato Curry on the side. The Poori too was not oily at all. I would rate their Poori at 9/10 .

Fried Banana Fritters (Take Away) @ RM 3.00

Fried Banana Fritters
As it was a Friday night and I was sure that I would be catching some movies later tonight, I decided to buy back the above Fried Banana Fritters to munch in front of the TV. For a full plastic bag, they charged me RM 3.00 which is think is very reasonable. They were crispy and wonderfully coated with spices. I would rate these at 9/10 .

Generally, their dinner offerings, though limited, is decently good. If you are looking for a simple no frills dinner in Mont Kiara, this is a place that you should be visiting. Their staffs too are very friendly and efficient.

我是甲洞三宝寺 (暹廟) SAMNAK SAMBODHI BUDDHIST ASSOCIATION NO: 19-21 JALAN 38 TAMAN DESA JAYA KEPONG 52100 KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA.
