Claypot Junction @ Tanjung Malim, Perak

Claypot Junction is a restaurant that I have blogged about a number of times, mainly showcasing their dishes that are prepared by the kitchen in the evenings. However, during lunch hours, they do have a good variety of Chinese Mixed Rice that is quite popular with the locals. I tried this once sometime back when they newly opened in 2015 and here I am again this afternoon.

It's Cool And Nice In The Evenings

Daily, they have close to 30 dishes and that's a good variety to have and these dishes are prepared on a daily rotation. The reason for this is because they have quite a number of people that come there daily. Having the same dishes daily would definitely not be good and hence this practice. Only their signature Chicken Curry is a compulsory item here as it is highly sought after. 

My Lunch

Soup and Chinese Tea

If you go for their Mixed Rice, soup, Chinese Tea and plain drinking water are provided complimentary. My choice of items for today's lunch were Rice, Chicken Curry, Pork with Ginger, Thai Style Tofu and some Stir Fried Bean Sprouts. 

Curry Chicken with Potatoes

This Chicken Curry is their signature dish and it's pretty good. Prepared with lot's of potatoes, the curry itself is so tasty and it's definitely a must try dish here. I would give it a 9/10. 

Beansprouts with Salt Fish

Another good dish that I enjoyed. The beansprouts were not over done, still crispy and juicy and the blend of salt fish gave it a very unique flavour. I would give this a 8/10. 

Thai Style Tofu

A sweet and spicy preparation that was so addictive. The freshness of the tofu surely enhanced the taste as well. A good one and I'd give this a 8/10 as well. 

Sliced Pork with Ginger

This Sliced Pork with Ginger dish was another good one. The pork slices were just about the right thickness and the sauces were heavenly. I would give this a 9/10. 

In summary, this place definitely serves some good food, excellent variety and reasonable prices. A good place to have Chinese Mixed Rice for lunch in Tanjung Malim.
