Black & White Kopitiam @ Damansara Perdana, Petaling Jaya

When you need a quick Bak Kut Teh fix, neighbourhood stalls always come in handy. This is one such visit when I wanted to have Bak Kut Teh and it was raining very heavily and that hindered me from driving far and I resorted to visiting this restaurant by the name of Black & White Kopitiam in Damansara Perdana. This restaurant is located along Jalan PJU 8/5C in Damansara Perdana, right behind the EMKAY Land office.

Black & White Kopitiam in Damansara Perdana
This is not the first time that I am coming to this restaurant. I have been visiting this restaurant for the past ten years now. In the evenings, the famous stalls here are their Bak Kut Teh stall, Claypot Chicken Rice stall, Nasi Lemak stall and the Char Kuey Teow stall. There are a limited number of tables inside this restaurant and usually on a clear day, tables would be laid out on the road as well but since it is raining tonight, everyone had to be cramped inside the restaurant which was quite an uncomfortable experience.

The No Name Bak Kut Teh stall
As mentioned earlier, I have been having this Bak Kut Teh for the last ten years and that was about the time that this guy had started his business. The owner is a very nice man and has a pleasant personality and would try his best to please his customers. I still remember in the early days, his BKT used to be so inconsistent yet I still returned as I liked the man. Now however, he has managed to improve his skills tremendously and serves up a decent Bak Kut Teh. Of course I am not saying that his Bak Kut Teh is excellent but it is quite decent and would satisfy a non fussy customer.

White Rice

Chopped Bird's Eye Chilies
Here you do not get the Oil rice like you get in those specialty Bak Kut Teh restaurants. All that he serves is the plain White Rice and the chopped Bird's Eye Chillies are definitely a must.

Claypot Bak Kut Teh @ RM 10.00 per person
The Bak Kut Teh here comes in a light soup and is served in claypot's. It is priced at RM 10.00 per person.

Closer Look At The Ingredients
The ingredients that are added in the herbal soup are Pork meat, some Fried Tofu, a few strands of Fu Chok and some green vegetables. It's just a simple affair without those Button or Enoki Mushrooms.

Your Choice of Meat Cuts
He has a variety of meat cuts to choose from and you could decide what you want. Of course, please do not expect him to have the big bone etc.. For me, lean meat cuts are my favourite and that is exactly what I get every time I come here.

Well, as mentioned before, this is a simple no frills stall that would satisfy a quick Bak Kut Teh craving especially on a cold night where some hot herbal soup would be very satisfying. As for me, I would rate his Bak Kut Teh at 7/10 and that's a decent standard for me. If you are in the neighbourhood, then this place is worth a try.

  1. To those who wanted to drop by thos KaFe Black & White Kopitiam, avoid the claypot chicken rice and pan mee stall. Service and attitude is rude and bad. When asked the pan mee stall if they have claypot pan mee, the lady hawker just snatched back the number plate and threw it on the table and shouted they didn't have such thing. When we were pissed and leaving, the claypot chicken rice stall man chase out and asked what's the problem? The lady hawker didn't throw the number plate at us. Lousy shop!
