HOMI Chicken Curry Puff @ The Gardens, Kuala Lumpur

HOMI Chicken Curry Puffs has been around for more than a decade now. The first stall was started in Restaurant Hock Seng in SS2 Petaling Jaya, which is still operation. At that particular stall, you would be able to meet the owner himself who is a Chinese gentleman and a very friendly one. I have been buying curry puffs from him for almost 12 years now and the quality has been consistent. It was by chance that I stumbled across another one of their outlets located in the Lower Ground Floor of the Gardens Mall.

This outlet is quite easy to sight. If you come down from the Gardens Hotel, just keep walking straight from the escalator and within 50 meters, you would be able to sight this stall on your right.

Most Staffs Are Malay's Now

Freshly Prepared
With the recent expansion, HOMI has now acquired the Halal status and with that, most of the staffs that he hires are Muslims. They basically sell three types of Curry Puffs, Chicken Curry Puff, Sardine Puff and another variety of Chicken Curry Puff that is non spicy. Do note that the prices at the Gardens outlet is slightly higher than the stall in SS2. Here, the Curry Puffs are priced at RM 2.70 each and with the purchase of ten pieces, you get one free. All their Curry Puffs are freshly prepared here and the same is the case with their SS2 outlet. Even those days, he used to tell me that he sells a few thousand Curry Puffs daily and now with two outlets, I am not surprised if he sells more than ten thousand curry puffs a day. Just like the other stall, ordering here is quite simple. Just request for the quantity of each type of Curry Puffs you want and pay for them accordingly. This is a strictly take away stall and there are no seating spaces available for you to sit and have them.

Sardine Curry Puffs
I like the way that his Curry Puffs are made. Though they seem like having a hard and thick skin, it is actually very soft and when you bite through, you do not feel much of the skin as it gives way easily and you get to taste more of the fillings. The Sardine Curry Puffs were definitely good and I would rate them at 9/10.

Chicken Curry Puff
The Chicken Curry Puffs are definitely better than the Sardine Puffs and this has been my all time favourite. The Curry Puffs is filled with Chicken chunks, loads of potato's in a spicy curry, slices of Mushroom, Green Pea and slices of Onions. Definitely a treat to Curry Puff lovers. I would rate this Curry Puff at 9.5/10 .

It is great to see that HOMI has now expanded into the shopping mall scene and hope that there would be more outlets opening in other malls too. One thing that I would like to congratulate him is that despite his expansion and growth, the quality and taste of the Curry Puffs have been consistent over the years and that is a great satisfaction to his loyal supporters like me.

  1. Hi Venoth, this is Alexander. Regarding whom you have met before at the stall in Gardens Mall last time, the owner you engaged with, is his name Chris Loh.

My name is Zakaria and I beg to differ about your opinion on Chris as a really friendly gentleman. Earlier today, I passed by and saw Chris engaged with someone on the phone in such a rude manner. I overheard everything clearly and found that the other person on the phone seems too sound courteous but Chris was still heard very rude towards the other person on the phone.

Furthermore, last year I have seen Chris in the Gardens Mall area being impolite and unfriendly towards a lady in one morning on a weekday. Might be a customer.

I hope this is not meant to contradict your opinion. but here to speak the truth on Chris. It is actually disappointing that such an individual of high stature being indecent towards others.
