Warung Cikgu @ Puchong, Selangor

This is an entry from a long overdue place that is located in Bandar Bukit Puchong. Nasi Mmanggey which is their signature dish is one that must be tried by all spicy food lovers. I have been informed about this place a few years back but never got a chance to visit them. Luck was on my side this afternoon as I had a meeting not too far away from here. Once that was over, I didn't want to miss the opportunity and came over for lunch.

Warung Cikgu in Bandar Bukit Puchong

Still Crowded During Non Peak Hours
This restaurant is not difficult to locate if you are using a GPS. Whether you're using Waze or Garmin or any other GPS for that matter, this establishment is listed on most systems. If you're not using a GPS, then it can be quite a challenge as you have to go around in circles off the main street to get here.

Limited Dishes

Self Service Concept

The Waiter Serves You And Adds The Portions Accordingly

Nasi Mmanggey @ RM 5.00
Basically they only have three dishes here and their top seller is Nasi Mmanggey which is basically a Kelantanese dish. During breakfast, they also have Nasi Lemak but the quantity is limited since most customers come here solely for their Nasi Mmanggey. From what I have heard, best to avoid this place during peak hours. If you're coming for lunch, my advice would be to come much earlier or around 2.30 pm onwards. The restaurant is open daily from 7 am till 10 pm. It is very much a partial self service here. You are not allowed to scoop the items yourself as the measurement may run and neither are you allowed to ask for less rice or more rice. It's all standard size packs. You'd have to stand in a queue, collect your packs, then walk over to the drinks counter, place your orders and then pay for them. Even for those who are dining in, it all comes in these packs and no plates are used.

Extremely Spicy Sambal Cili Padi

Excellent Fried Chicken Bits
Pretty much, that's what this dish is all about. White Rice, some gravy, fried chicken bits and spicy sambal cili padi. Despite being such a simple dish, it was truly satisfying. The sambal is the killer here and when I say spicy, trust me, it's the kind of spicy that stings you and brings tears. I have a very high tolerance for spicy food and even then, this was a tad too spicy for me. Nevertheless, it was pure bliss. Yes, I absolutely enjoyed each bite as it was pure joy. If you're one who loves very spicy food, then you have got to give this a try. I would rate their rice and sambal at 10/10.

Fried Chicken Bits
Their Fried Chicken Bits was heavenly too. Freshly fried and beautifully marinated, fried chicken lovers would fall in love with this. For me too, it was love at first bite. Amazing is the word and I would definitely give this 10/10 as well.

Coconut Shake @ RM 3.50
Another must try here is their Coconut Shake. This is one that would put the famous one in Malacca to shame. Extremely good, served with ice cream and just perfect to counter the spiciness from their Nasi Mmanggey. This deserves a 10/10 as well. Highly Recommended!

If you are into spicy food, then please do try their Nasi Mmanggey. Despite the fact that the spiciness stings, it was pure bliss. Never knew that a simple meal like this could give so much satisfaction. No wonder why this place is crowded from morning till night. And don't miss their Coconut Shake too. Another excellent one from Warung Cikgu.

  1. Hi Venoth.

I agreed with everything you said about this place.

For me, the sambal, 2 spoons enough already. Last time i requested for 3 spoons, it's killing me..Too spicy but still nice.

I agreed with you also regarding Coconut Shake.. The best so far for me. No need to go to Klebang anymore.
