Leong Kee, as it is known to the locals is a famous stall that is located in Ulu Bernam, Selangor just after the boundary from Tanjung Malim, Perak. Though it is across the Bernam River, to locals this is still considered part of Tanjung Malim though they differ administratively. Previously, they were based right beside the old market in Tanjung Malim and that is where I used to go as a little boy. Sometime in the early 1990's, they had to move to cater for KTM's double track project and were relocated in a different location just about a 100 meters from the present place. It is only now where they have a physical restaurant to them and yet the cooking is still done outside like the yesteryears as you could see from the photograph below.

Cooking in Progress |
In recent years, he has changed the name to Leong Kee & Ming to allow his son to become a partner in the business. The specialty here is that all food is prepared using charcoal stoves. He also sells only a few dishes and these are highly sought after. His prices have also just been raised minimally over the 30 plus years that I have been eating here but the food quality has never dropped. All his dishes are RM 8.00 flat. There is no various portion sizes and they are same across all his dishes, just one standard size. Since we were here with the family today, I would be able to show you all his dishes, just a few to number but all extremely good.

Just Having Placed Our Orders |
|
Cutlery In Hot Water |
We prefer to sit outdoors usually. The service is pretty fast and it is all family members that assist. They attend to you swiftly but from around 9 pm onwards, the waiting time can be long for the dishes and so it is advisable to come here around 7+ or for supper at around 11+. He is open till 3 am anyway.

Loh Mee @ RM 8.00 |
One of the signature dishes here is the Loh Mee. It is made to perfection and the vinegar is served separately for you to add to taste. I would rate this dish at 10/10 . Another point to mention is that he makes his noodles himself and it is not purchased from some factory.
|
Fried Kuey Teow @ RM 8.00 |
This is by far the most sought after dish here. Usually by around 10 pm, the Kuey Teow is sold out. It comes with a raw egg on the top and has to be mixed thoroughly. Something that you would not be able to find elsewhere. Absolutely delicious dish. Again I would rate this 10/10 .
|
Pepper Soup @ RM 8.00 |
This Pepper Soup comes in two choices, with or without noodles. The noodles used is the Rice Vermicelli. This soup is filled with cabbage and pork slices and with a whole load of pepper that gets you sweating to all glory the moment you take the first sip. An excellent dish! Good also for a cold night and especially when one is having flu. I would again rate this dish at 10/10 . Even the ones available in Damansara Hokkien Mee or Sentul Ah Yap does not come anywhere close to this.

Hokkien Mee @ RM 8.00 |

Home Made Chili Paste |
The Hokkien Mee is another dish that this stall is very famous for and I would rate it as the second best dish here after the Kuey Teow. It is a must for you to try it with their home made Chili Paste which is ground together with belacan. Also priced at RM 8 per plate, I rate this again to be 10/10 .
On the whole, this is an excellent place to visit for dinner or late night supper. The bill today came to RM 42.00 including drinks. The Herbal Tea here is only priced at RM 0.50 each as opposed to RM 1+ in Kuala Lumpur. I have also introduced this stall to many of my friends in Kuala Lumpur and they did make day trips just to try this place out and the reviews have all been very positive. I am yet to meet someone who would say that the food here is bad or only average.
