I had no idea that such an Indian Fine Dining restaurant had been opened in Oasis Ara Damansara until some of my friends mentioned about this restaurant a few days ago. I was also told that it was mostly Ala Carte and on some special days like Tamil New Year, certain weekends, Mothers Day, Fathers Day etc., they had this lunch and dinner buffet available. Having got the phone number a few days ago, I called up to check on the next available date for the buffet lunch and was informed that it would be on the 13th of April 2013. I immediately made a reservation for two.

Kumar's Restaurant at Oasis Ara Damansara |
This restaurant is a three storey single unit that is well decorated and right in front of a pool that gives it the feel of being next to an oasis. This is the first time that I am coming to this area and the landscape is truly beautiful.

My Table Bearing My Name |
When we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by the restaurant manager, Vincent. Checking on my reservation, he ushered us to our table. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. I just fell in love with the design and to my surprise, there was a note on the table with my name on it. The buffet was also ready and there were a few others who had already started with their lunch. Buffet here is from 12 noon to three pm at a cost of RM 35.00 per person. From a single glance, there seemed to be like around 12 dishes and for RM 35 per pax, it does look worth it.
|
Bru Coffee @ RM 3.50 |
Once seated, I ordered my drinks. Service here was very efficient. They have a great team that is well managed by the restaurant manager. Very quickly, the drinks were served. I ordered a cup of Bru Coffee. As you can see, the cutlery are also custom designed and the coffee too was good. I would rate their Bru Coffee at 9/10 .
|
Honeydew Juice @ RM 11.90 |
Angie ordered a glass of Honeydew juice. It was fresh squeezed and really good too. I would rate this drink again at 9/10 .
|
Aloo Gobi |
Now, time to go through the entire offering for today. The first available dish was Aloo Gobi. This dish was good and done extremely well. It was also a bit towards the spicy side. I would rate this at 9.2/10 .
|
Chicken Curry |
The Chicken Curry was really perfect. There was no room for me to find any fault with it. Perfectly spiced and served hot. There was also a great amount of chicken in it. I would rate this dish at 9.9/10 .
|
Mutton Varuval |
The Mutton Varuval was also good but not the best that I have had. It could have been made better if it was more spicy and the chunks should have been slightly smaller. I would rate this at 8.5/10 .
|
Black Pepper Prawn Sambal |
This dish was heavenly. It is difficult to find prawns cooked in this style, especially when it is perfectly done. It was super spicy and I loved it thoroughly. I would rate this at 10/10 .
|
Sotong Kicap Style |
The Squid was cooked with soy sauce but then, it was on the spicy side. They have cooked the squid well too to the extent that it was soft and nice. The flavouring of the gravy was also excellent. I would rate this dish at 9.7/10 .
|
Egg Sambal |
Another fantastic dish here cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious. I would rate this dish at 9.9/10 .
|
Crab Rasam |
The Crab Rasam was again heavenly. I think this is the first time where I had close to five helpings of Crab Rasam. You must taste it in order to experience what I had. Just no words to express how delicious this was. I would rate this at 10/10 .
|
Chicken & Lamb Kebabs |
This is a mixture of Chicken and Lamb Kebabs. The lighter one is Chicken Kebab and the darker one was the Lamb Kebab. The Chicken Kebab was just so so and I would rate that at 5/10 but the Lamb Kebab was delicious and I would rate that at 8.9/10 .
|
Kesari |
Now, coming on to the deserts. The first available one was the Kesari. This again was well done. It was rich with Ghee and Cashew and Almonds. I would rate these at 10/10 .
|
Assorted Naan |
The Naan Breads were just average and not up to the mark like the other South Indian dishes. I would only rate these at 7/10 .
|
Vegetable Samosas |
The Vegetable Samosas were a let down. It must have been cooked quite early today and was already very soft by the time we had them. Also the filling was nothing much but onions. I would only rate these at 5/10 .
|
Indian Coloured Bites |
These are the standard Indian bites which you can buy at Indian Grocers and fry them. Nothing much to shout about these as they were just common stuffs. I would only rate these at 5/10 . I do not think they made these in house and must have bought them of the shelf and fried here.
On the whole, the dishes here were simple great and almost every dish was close to perfection, except for a few that I have mentioned. I have no regrets coming here today for the buffet lunch and think that it is absolutely worth it. Definitely this would be a place that I would return soon, most likely with my parents. Loved everything about this place.

Didn't have a good experience with Mr Vincent. I personally feel that he needs to brush on his communication skills. He failed to ensure everything was delivered as promised for the birthday function I organized .His excuse, busy entertaining high profile customer.Place is beautiful, fried squid was fantastic, prawn sambal too spicy. Hope Mr Vincent will not disappoint his other customers like how he disaapointed me.
ReplyDeleteSad that you went through that experience Thariny. The place has such a wonderful ambiance and it is sad to hear that Mr. Vincent gave such an excuse which is not acceptable. High profile or not, we all are paying guests. Hope that we do not hear of such excuses in the future or else, the place would definitely loose it's customers.

We have been informed and told everyone to everyone. YIP KUM FOOK (lawyer, president of SAMNAK SAMBODHI BUDDHIST TEMPLE) was embarrassed by Buddhism, as a shame of the Buddhist world
ReplyDeleteIn addition, do dirty with monks. He thinks this temple is his, when we read the articles on the internet, our mind is sadder because of many posts and comments on the internet.
But he still doesn't know anything. Maybe he is close to the six senses feelings. This is very low knowledge. Some old man groups at Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong are also very embarrassing when they speak about SAMNAK SAMBODHI BUDDHIST TEMPLE
On the contrary, if this Yip Kum Fook has learned the law, he needs to understand some laws, other lawyers do not make problems and deceive people, only this Yip Kum Fook in the world…..
In Buddhist also same, if he understands Buddhist knowledge, why does he need to do badly, insult Buddhist monks (rejected monks out from Temple), we know about SAMNAK SAMBODHI BUDDHIST TEMPLE because we are groups opened this Temple at Taman Ehsan on 1987
We don't say much because of his karma (YIP)
