Restoran Akkas Food Corner @ Bandar Puteri, Puchong

Akkas Food Corner is a relatively new restaurant that has opened it's doors in Bandar Puteri Puchong. This restaurant is located along Jalan Puteri 5/1 which is directly opposite the Catholic Church. I had bookmarked this place for about two weeks now and am glad that I am able to pay them a visit today.

The Restaurant

Drinks Station

Curries Station
The restaurant is just a simple one but the place was very clean. Food is located on one end of the restaurant and the drinks station on the other side. Seems like most of their customers are coming here for the first time, and that too after hearing about the place from their friends and relatives. Many were chatting with Akka who was there, personally greeting and thanking the customers for coming by.

Vegetarian Food Items

Vegetarian Food Items
Their Vegetarian food items were located on one side and the non vegetarian items on the other side. Even their vegetarian food items looked pretty good and the spread was decent.

They also had a good spread of non vegetarian food items and the all looked very good. We then requested for a plate with rice and then went on to select our food items. As for rice, they only have the usual rice available here. Par Boil Rice is not available which seemed fine with me, though I would prefer the latter for personal reasons. Once we were done, we then headed back to our table.

My Brother's Meal @ RM 7.50

My Dad's Meal @ RM 6.50

My Meal @ RM 6.00

Ice Kosong @ RM 0.20
Once we were back at our table, Akka followed us and wrote the bill and then she handed the chit over to us. The prices seemed reasonable for Bandar Puteri area, especially when comparing with their neighbours Radha's. The food were all home cooked style and I shall comment on the items individually below. Iced Water was priced at 20 cents per glass which was again quite reasonable.

Chicken Gravy
Their Chicken Gravy was quite good. It tasted just like home cooked food and the spices were all perfect. I would rate this at 8.5/10 .

Tofu Sambal
Their Tofu Sambal was excellent, slightly on the spicy side, but it tasted delicious. I just loved this preparation. I would rate this at 9.5/10 .

Egg Sambal
Their Egg Sambal was good too, Today they had two varieties of Egg Sambal, Chicken's Eggs and Quails Eggs. Quails Eggs are hard to find these days and it is great that they have it here. As for the above Egg Sambal, this too was spicy but delicious. I would again rate this at 9.5/10 .

Fish Gravy
Their Fish Gravy was nice but not excellent. There was nothing wrong with this dish but it is just that I have tasted much better ones. Therefore, I would rate this at 8/10 only.

Bean Sprouts
Their Bean Sprouts were really good and tasted exactly like how my late Grandma would prepare it. I would rate this at 9.3/10 . Good stuff!

Thannichar
Their Thannichar was very good, in fact among all the curries tried today, this was the best! Highly recommended! I would rate this at 9.8/10 .

Fried Fish
Their Fried Fish was quite good as well. They had both thick and thin cuts available. This is good as some would love the previous and some, the latter. I went for the thin cut today and the size was good. Taste was good too and their marination was perfect! Not as good as Mathais, yet it was delicious. I would rate this at 9.3/10 .

Kirai
Their Kirai was very good and tasted very much like home made food. Not like those that one would get at other restaurants. I would rate this at 9.4/10 . Recommended!

Price For Today's Lunch
As a summary, I feel that the food here is fantastic. They all had home cooked taste and none of the dishes tasted like commercial dishes. Do note that food finishes pretty fast here. Even today, we were here at 12.30 noon and even at that time, some of the items were already finishing and they were contemplating if they should top up. Can't blame them as they are relatively new to the restaurant business. So, if you want a good spread to choose from, best to be here around 12 noon. Definitely a place that I would recommend. Food is good, service is fast and the prices are reasonable.
