Ko Hyang Korean Country Delights @ Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

I had some friends visit me at the office today for lunch. As my office tower is attached to this little mall called 1 Mont Kiara, I decided to take them there for lunch. I gave them a couple of options in terms of places to eat and they decided upon the Korean Restaurant called Ko Hyang Korean Country Delights which is located on the first floor of this little mall.

Sign At The Entrance
Though I have been working here for the past six months now, never once have I tried this place. Well, I guess I am not much of a Korean food fan.

A Simple Set Up

Staffs Are All Foreign Workers
This restaurant set up is very simple. It does not even occupy a full shop lot but just sits along the walkway on the first floor. The only setback with this is that it lacks privacy and everyone that walks past would be able to see you and whatever you are eating.

The Menu
Well, we got a table closest to the walkway and it was something that I did not like but what to do, the concept is such. The service however, was very fast and efficient. They immediately handed us the menu cards and waited for us to order. It did take me some time to go through all their offerings. I was impressed with the number of items they offered at this small eatery. Having made our mind, we placed our orders.

Ra Myeon @ RM 13.50
The dishes arrived within 15 minutes. Pretty efficient I should say. This was the first dish to arrive. It is called Ra Myeon and it pretty much tasted like Magee except that there were slightly more spices in this. It comes in choices of either Seafood, Chicken or Beef. We choose the Seafood and it has some Prawns, Mussels and Crab Stick. On the whole, it is a nice dish and the portion size was huge. Just that I was a little disappointed as it tasted quite close to Magee Curry and perhaps I had expected much more. Nevertheless, there is nothing much to fret about and it is nice. I would rate this 7/10 .

Korean Pickles
Well, this came not only for the above dish but for all dishes. We ended up having three of these on the table. I guess this is a standard way of eating Korean Food. The pickles were good though and I specifically liked the sweet anchovies and steamed potato.

Bi Bim Bab @ RM 16.90
This is one of the most famous dishes here, based on the tips left at Foursquare. I did taste this too and it was nice. It is basically Rice topped with vegetables and chili paste. Once again, this too comes with the same pickles. This was pretty nice. It had sweetness, spiciness, sourness and bitter taste in it when combined the side dishes that comes along. Satisfies the palate from every angle. The portion, once again was huge. I would rate this at 9/10 .

O Jing Eo Bokem @ RM 17.90

Rice
Well, this was another unique dish here. The rice was purplish in colour and I do not know why. It tasted nice though. The main dish above is Stir Fried Squids in Chili Sauce. This was once again another lovely dish. The spicy gravy of the squid went very well with the rice. This was also accompanied by the pickles. The portion again was huge and I would rate this dish 9/10 .

The Dip Sauce

Goon Man Du @ RM 9.50
By far, I loved this the most at this place. It was definitely delicious. It was hot, yummy both on the inside and outside. Typically, this is Pan Fried Chicken Dumplings and the dip sauce definitely had vinegar in it. I enjoyed this very much. I have tried this in some other places and find that this was the best. Surely rate this 9.5/10 . A must try here.

Kim Chi Jeon @ RM 11.50
Besides the above dumpling, this was another dish that I really enjoyed. It is typically Kimchi Pan Cakes and they were lovely. Fluffy yet filling. It had a lovely taste when it lands in your mouth. Enjoyed every bite of it. Another must try snack here. I would rate this 9.5/10 .

The verdict for this place is that, it is good. I was truly impressed by their food and the taste. All of us unanimously agreed that the food was good. The portions were also very lavish and decently priced though being in Mont Kiara. The total bill came to RM 81.20 and that is cheap for this neighborhood. This is another restaurant that I would strongly recommend. It can also be patronised by our Muslim friends as this restaurant has Halal status.

我是甲洞三宝寺 (暹廟) SAMNAK SAMBODHI BUDDHIST ASSOCIATION NO: 19-21 JALAN 38 TAMAN DESA JAYA KEPONG 52100 KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA.
