Cafe Lampu Neon @ Tanjung Malim, Perak

Being a fan of Western Cuisine, I have bookmarked this place for some months now since they opened their doors in Tanjung Malim and it was only tonight, that I managed to drop by for dinner. This restaurant is located along Jalan Ketoyong, just beside Elite Futsal and Sam's Cafe. For those who are not familiar, come along Jalan Ketoyong until you see the KTM Station on your left. Shortly ahead, you would see a row of shops on your right and there would be a sign which reads 'Elite Futsal'. The moment you turn in here, you would be able to notice this restaurant on your right.

The place was simple, a no frills restaurant, nevertheless it was very clean and tidy. The restaurant had a funky look to it and it seemed like a great place to chill out with friends. They also provided WiFi connectivity for customers and the connection was super fast.

Ordering Chit
When I arrived here, it was approximately 7.30 pm and the place was quite quiet, with just another table being occupied by a family. But as time passed, customers started coming in in large numbers. Being a weekday, this flow of customers was quite impressive to see. When I arrived, I was immediately attended to by a gentleman, not sure if he is the owner and he was very friendly and took time and initiative to explain the menu and answer all my questions pertaining to their dishes. That's good customer service. The pricing of both Western and Local dishes were very reasonable. Specifically, their Western dishes were very reasonably priced, if not cheap. This must also be one of the reasons why customers' keep flocking here. Orders are to be filled in to the chit that is provided at the tables and this would then be handed over to whomever is waiting the tables.

Iced Teh O @ RM 1.00

Iced Syrup @ RM 1.00
I ended up ordering two drinks and they were sent to my table in less than 5 minutes. The kitchen staff too were very efficient and were continuously on their feet. Both drinks were good and they were very competitively priced. In all honestly, the same Iced Teh O would generally cost RM 1.50 in other places and here, it was priced at RM 1.00 only, and that too for a tall glass. I would rate both drinks at 8.5/10 .

Grilled Chicken Chop with Black Pepper Sauce @ RM 10.00

Fries

Black Pepper Batter
The Grilled Chicken Chop comes in two options, either Black Pepper Sauce or Mushroom Sauce. I went for their Black Pepper Sauce and this selection is done at the time of order. Wonderfully marinated Chicken, being grilled and served on a sizzling hot plate with Fries and some Black Pepper sauce. The portion was not too huge and commensurates the price. I think this is great. Some places charge an exorbitant rate and serve a humongous piece which is too much for a single person. This was just about the right size. The marinated chicken was grilled and it was perfectly done. Not overdone or under cooked, it was simply perfect. I wonder what they had used to marinate the chicken as it was very delicious. The Black Pepper batter however was a little too light for me. Therefore, it tasted a little mild and I would have preferred something bolder in flavour. The Fries however were nicely done and fried to a golden brown perfection. Overall, a decent dish. I would rate this at 7/10 . If only the Black Pepper batter was bolder, then this would have easily scored a higher score. One small area for them to work on and it would take them a long way ahead.

For those who are tired of having the usual style of the road side Burger, then this is definitely a good one to try. This comes in a choice of either Chicken or Beef. Do note that these are the common Burgers that we talk about and not those minced meat patties. This preparation comes with a soft bun, served with some cheese in the Burger and surrounded with a Black Pepper batter and some Fries which have been sprinkled with some spicy powder. The taste of the Burger mixed with the Black Pepper batter at the base was truly an electrifying experience and would nail a burger lover just at the right spot. For me, this was one to cherish as it was truly tasty and came highly recommended by the gentleman who was serving me. I too, in return would recommend this! For me, this would score a rating of 8.9/10 .

On the whole, my dining experience here tonight was a memorable one. I enjoyed the food along with the company of good music, excellent service and very much wallet friendly prices. Do not come here expecting Victoria Station standards, then you are bound to be disappointed. I think it is even unfair to compare them both as if creating a comparison between an orange and an apple. This place is a common man's eatery that serves good food that is not easily accessible to many. I wish them all the best and hope that they continue to prosper and expand their menu offerings in the months and years to come.
