Melur Jaya Curry House @ Tanjung Malim, Perak

Melur Jaya Curry House is located along Jalan Bunga Raya in Tanjung Malim. For those old timers, this is along the same row where the old Angsoka Supermarket was. This restaurant belongs to my best buddy, nevertheless I shall still remain unprejudiced and neutral with my reviews. This visit here is to specifically try their Mee Goreng as I am out on a quest to identify the best Indian Mee Goreng in town.

I was here around 7.30 pm and when I arrived, I was accompanied my by friend's elder brother throughout the time that I was there. Well, they are more like family to me as well and we had a lot to catch up on as it has been some months since we last met. The restaurant itself was very clean and well maintained. Besides these fried items, they also have the usual curries and Briyani as well. I have neither tried their curries nor their Briyani and as such, would not be able to comment on those.

Teh Tarik @ RM 1.20
Their Teh Tarik was quite good and I am glad that I am tasting another good tea since my torturous dinner at another one of those Indian Muslim restaurants in town last night. Coming back to this, the amount of tea dust used was just perfect and as such, the drink was good. I would rate this at 9.4/10 .

Mee Goreng @ RM 3.50

Mee Goreng @ RM 3.50
Their Mee Goreng tasted good and the portion was lavish. All the spices and sauces were just right but it was not the best that I have tasted in town. Nevertheless, this is still a good plate of Mee Goreng. Till date, this stands as the third best Mee Goreng in Tanjung Malim. Perhaps once I finish trying all the Indian Muslim places in town, then I should come up with a special entry listing them all. Once again, for now this stands third best and I would rate this at 8.8/10 . Still a good one to try if you happen to be in the vicinity.

Rojak @ RM 3.50

Rojak @ RM 3.50
Their Rojak however was not that great. I found their Peanut gravy to be a tad too light and as such, it failed to stand out in flavours and emanated a rather subdued taste. The ingredients added into the plate of Rojak however were good, the only set back being the sauce which sadly, is the most important component  in a plate of Rojak. I do hope that some improvement is done with this dish to make it better. Definitely has loads of room for improvement. I would rate this preparation at 7/10 .

From what I tried tonight, their Teh Tarik and Mee Goreng were good and I would definitely recommend this restaurant for those two items. As for the Rojak, there has got to be some work happening on it to make it taste bolder. Would I come back? Of course I will. Their food is generally pretty good, the prices reasonable, service is prompt and above all, this is my best friend's restaurant and therefore I would always be his biggest supporter.
