Located in Metropolitan Square, Damansara Perdana, is this little restaurant called Maria's Restaurant & Cafe that serves really great Western dishes. I have heard a lot of this place through my friends and all have only good things to say about this place. I was also informed that on weekends, it is best to make prior reservations both for lunch and dinner or else you might have to wait a very long time to get a table. Accordingly, the food here is very good and is served at very reasonable prices. With all that recommendations, I decided to head here this afternoon. It was rather an odd hour when we arrived as it was around 2.30 pm and even then, there were two other tables that were having late lunch like us. This restaurant is located on the third floor of Metropolitan Square. To get here, head to the lifts that are located between Citibank and Old Town White Coffee and head on to the third floor and therefrom the signs would guide you to the restaurant.

More Seating Spaces |
This restaurant was founded in the year 2000 by Maria Tan and has grown in popularity over the years. The restaurant is very well designed and has a great decoration. There are two seating spaces for patrons. The outer one is ventilated by just fans and the inside space is air conditioned. Wifi is also provided for customers convenience. Once there, we were greeted by the friendly waitress who then showed us to our table. With that, she brought on the menu and passed over to us.

Like their Facebook and Get a Free Desert |
Their menu was simple yet nicely designed. Having flipped through the pages, they do have a good number of offerings and are priced fairly decent. They even have an offer whereby if you like their Facebook Fan Page, show it to them and that entitles you to their free desert of the day and that's a pretty cool way to get you onto their social marketing. We then finalised our orders and my brother got on to their Fan Page and liked it and then showed it over to the waitress to redeem the free desert.
Coca Cola @ RM 5.00 |
Ice Lemon Tea @ RM 6.50 |
I ordered a Coke and it came by the can and my brother ordered a glass of Ice Lemon Tea. The Ice Lemon Tea was fairly pure and thick as you can see from the above photo and it was unsweetened. Sugar is provided on the sides and you could sweeten it to taste. Thats a good concept where you could sweeten it to your preference instead of having got to accommodate to their standard sweetness level. I would rate their Ice Lemon Tea at 9/10 .
Grilled Chicken @ RM 20.00 |
I ordered the above Grilled Chicken and it is priced at RM 20.00 . There were three huge chunks of meat, vegetables on the sides and an abundant amount of mushroom sauce. The vegetables were very nicely done, not overcooked and had their juices intact along with a crisp and buttery feeling to it. The mushroom sauce was definitely not one of those that was popped out of the can. It was made from fresh ingredients and there were chunks of mushrooms in it.The taste was superbly balanced and it was just perfect. The chicken was again grilled to perfection. For the price paid, the amount of chicken given was rather lavish. The chicken meat was also well cooked yet still tender and soft allowing the sauce to seep in well. Every bite of the chicken was heavenly. I think that this is definitely one of the best Grilled Chicken dish that I have ever tried. I would rate this dish at a perfect 10/10 .
Fish & Chips @ RM 22.00 |
My brother ordered the above Fish and Chips. For RM 22.00, we got three huge slices of fish coated in flour along with a decent amount of chips. I did try a bite just to get a taste of this dish to review. In my opinion, this is another well done dish. The fish though fried and coated with flour, was still juicy on the inside and the dip sauce provided went very well with it. The dish was not overly greasy and the amount of oil used was well controlled.Again, this is a dish well done and deserves a rating of 9.5/10 .
Carrot Walnut Cake @ RM 9.50 |
I ordered the above Carrot Walnut Cake as this cake is one of my favourites. Honestly, this was absolutely fantastic. It was so perfect and I have no comments on this. Everything was so well balanced that every bite of it was absolute goodness. Excellently done. This scores another perfect 10/10 .
Fruit Cake which was the free desert of the day |
My brother had the above Fruit Cake which came as the free desert of the day when you like their FB Fan Page. Though the portion size is rather small as it is given free, the taste was rather good. It is a good way of promoting your cakes. Well, after trying a bite, I find that this Fruit Cake was also good but the above Carrot Walnut Cake was anytime better. I would rate this cake at 8/10 .
On the whole, we definitely had a very good dining experience here. The environment is good, service is fast and friendly, price is right and the food is excellent, what else can one ask for. Definitely I would be coming here again to try out some of their other dishes. Good work guys and keep up the bar.

The ceasar's salad was soggy and tasteless. The Ribeye steak I got was so sinew and tendon ridden that I couldn't even finish it. I complained about it and they still made me full price. All you people rating this place highly have either not travelled enough or have never really had an honest to goodness steak.
ReplyDeleteNureddin...it is sad to know that your experience at this restaurant was bad. Generally I do not have steaks as I do not eat beef and I am generally very fair with my reviews...good is good and bad is bad and you could see that if you go through some of my other entries but generally what we had on that day i.e. the Grilled Chicken and Fish and Chips were quite good and I do appreciate you taking your time to highlight that flaw in this restaurant. I know how it feels when you go to a restaurant expecting high standards and get let down as it spoils your mood for the day. You should definitely post a comment on your experience on their Facebook page as I know that the owners do check the Facebook page quite often. This would definitely bring this to their immediate attention. Cheers!
