Pak Talib Char Kuey Teow is a new establishment that had opened it's doors just a few days ago. This restaurant is located right beside the Cendol Pulut Behrang outlet which is located very close to Masjid Ar-Rahman on the Ulu Bernam side of town. Open only at nights, this is not a large scale restaurant but just a simple space utilisation beside his house. Having seen the banner up just a few days after Hari Raya Aidilfitri, I decided to pay them a visit and check out the food here.

Parking can be a problem here as the road itself is quite narrow and customers are expected to park on the sides. Just be a little cautious when choosing your parking spot as some cars tend to drive quite fast here and as such, avoid those blind spots please. As you can see from the above photographs, he has just a few tables laid out in a narrow space which is located on the side of the entrance to his house. Just a simple set up but the banner says that it's a recipe that's been famous since 1996. It is a very humble establishment and so was the owner. When we arrived, there were another three customers and within a few minutes, two more arrived to take away. That's a good sign and indicates that the food here must be good. Once we were here, he came up to us to get our orders. We then ordered out drinks and as for food, they only have one dish and that is the Malay style Wet Char Kuey Teow. With the ordering done, his son (a school goer) assisted with preparing the drinks and the father went on to prepare the Char Kuey Teow.

Teh O came in a medium sized glass and this was priced at RM 1.00 each. Taste wise, it was okay. Just okay with a heap of sugar. I would rate this at 6/10 .

For the price of RM 4.50, the portion was good. It came in quite a large plate with loads of Kuey Teow, Eggs, Cockles, Bean Sprouts and a large Prawn served in a mildly spicy and sweet broth. It was quite tasty and went very well with the broth. The portion of the add on's too were quite lavish and I must thank him for having added such a large Prawn which surely contributed to enhance the taste of the dish. Overall, a good preparation. I would not say that this is the best preparation in Tanjung Malim but surely is the best on the Ulu Bernam side of town. I would rate this at 8.8/10 . One that is definitely recommended to try!
If you happen to be in Ulu Bernam or Tanjung Malim for that matter, do drop by and give this place a try. Lovely food for the price and I hope that this place does well. The environment too is quite nice at nights and is very conducive to have some conversations over a meal.
